| Peppo,
as he is known in Italy, led the European Tour in
driving distance from 1998 to 2000 but had never played
golf in the U.S. until last fall's Q-school.
He finished birdie-bierdie to earn his card by a single
stroke, and at midseason he trailed only John Daly
as the Tour's longest driver.
How does a short man (five foot two) with a short
backswing achieve such power? "Gift of God,"
Peppo replies with a shrug.
Neither does he know how to advise amateurs:"Ability,
coordination, balance, rotation, speed of the hands-it's
not too easy to put all those things together."
Tell us something we don't know, Peppo. |
